Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening!!
I wanted to start a new thing with my Blog, called Fun Fact Friday.
Every Friday I will post a fun fact about Myself (Amanda) or Jared, or Both.
Today is going to be my fun fact about cooking… lets just face it, I need some help in the cooking area.
Growing up I didn’t learn much about cooking from my Mom and Dad. My Dad was a truck driver, and not home much, and my mom was busy as well. So when I married into the Lindley Family I had some big expectations to live up to. My Mother In Law Koni is an AMAZING cook! She makes pies from scratch, grows a huge Garden every year, and her meals are always fresh and delicious.
When Jared I first Married almost 7 years ago I needed some Major Help with cooking. I remember when we first moved to Georgia, Jared worked Full Time with the air Force and I was working a small part time job. Jared would always cook the meals, so one night I called him at work and said “Tonight, I will make dinner, and you wont have to worry about doing anything!” I was so proud of myself, only for Jared to say “No really babe, its ok. PLEASE don’t worry about it.” I am sure your all laughing at me right now, and that is fine. I was a BAD cook! I burnt Macaroni and Cheese for goodness sakes!! So now, after 7 years of watching cooking shows on TV, reading cooking books, and Jared’s patience with my trying reipes out, I am a much better cook. I must say I make a pretty mean paasta with shrimp, grape tomatoes, and spinach!
So the point of this is for you to laugh with me, and at me.
I may not have been good at something when I first started, but I kept trying. Sure we had to buy some new sets of pots and pans along the way, but it was a learning experience and I am a better person for it.
Now I am a mom, and I have 2 beautiful babies. Diem is almost 2 1/2 months old, and is learning to cook early in the game. She loves to pull a chair up to the counters each time I am cooking, and she tries to help in some way. I think its important for me to teach her the basics, and we have such a fun time! Here are few photos of my mini cook in training.
I hope you enjoy! If you have any comments, ideas, and/or suggestions for next Friday’s fun fact leave a comment! Lets make this fun!
Have a Blessed weekend!!
